GENERAL INFORMATION

CIDETRAK® CRW is a gustatory stimulant for corn rootworms.  It has no insecticidal properties of its own.  This stimulant focuses on the compulsive feeding behavior by adult corn rootworms (Diabrotica sp.) on cucurbit bitters. When mixed with stomach poison insecticides, CIDETRAK® CRW stimulates beetles to ingest the insecticide, providing greater efficacy of the insecticide.  CIDETRAK® CRW is formulated to mix with a number of insecticides and to adhere to plant surfaces.

HOW TO USE*

MIXING DIRECTIONS: Begin with a clean mixing tank.  Fill the mixing tank with desired amount of water.  With the agitation system operating, add insecticide.  After insecticide is thoroughly suspended, add recommended amount of CIDETRAK® CRW.  Maintain constant agitation during mixing and application.  ALL SCREENS SMALLER THAN 6 MESH (6 HOLES PER INCH) MUST BE REMOVED FROM THE SPRAY SYSTEMS DURING MIXING AND APPLICATION, INCLUDING NOZZLE AND STRAINER SCREENS.

APPLICATION DIRECTIONS:

Corn

For control of corn rootworm adults, combine 3.1-oz (87 g) of CIDETRAK® CRW with 10% of the labeled rate of PenncapŇ M per acre (SevinŇ XLR also may be used).  For aerial application, apply in 1 gallon of water per acre.  For ground application, apply in 10 gallons of water per acre. Do not add additional adjuvants.

10% INSECTICIDE RATE TABLE:

Insecticide

10% of Labeled Rate for Corn Rootworm Adult Control

Penncap M

1.6 fl oz / A or

0.025 lb a.i. / A

Sevin XLR

3.2 fl oz / A or

0.1 lb a.i. / A

NOTE: Follow precautionary statements on insecticide label concerning safe handling and reentry intervals.

NOTE: Do not apply CIDETRAK® CRW during rain or when rain is expected within 24 hr of application.

AERIAL APPLICATION: Large, discrete droplets are required. Note:  Use screens 6 mesh or larger in spray system prior to mixing and application.  Never use screens smaller than 6 mesh.  Apply in 1 gallon of water per acre.  A volume mean diameter (VMD) of 600 mm is recommended.  To achieve this, use D6 nozzles without cores.  Orient nozzles to point straight behind aircraft – NOT towards the ground.  CP straight-stream nozzles may also be used.  To produce a VMD of 600 mm using CP straight-stream nozzles, remove deflector, set nozzle to 0.125-in. orifice diameter, and orient nozzles to point straight behind aircraft.  If only conventional CP nozzles are available, set deflector to 30, set nozzle to 0.125-in. orifice diameter, and orient nozzles to point straight behind aircraft.  For all configurations, aircraft should maintain a height of 8-10 ft above crop during application and travel 100-130 mph.

GROUND APPLICATION: Large discrete droplets are required. Note:  Use screens 6 mesh or larger in spray system prior to mixing and application.  Never use screens smaller than 6 mesh.  Apply in 10 gallons of water per acre.  A volume mean diameter (VMD) of 600 mm is recommended.  To achieve this, use D4, D5, or D6 nozzles without cores.  Orient nozzles to point horizontal to the ground – NOT towards the ground.  The boom should be held at least 2 ft above crop during application.

TREATMENT CONSIDERATIONS: Use the Pherocon® CRW trap-monitoring system with appropriate species-specific kairomone lure to aid in treatment decisions (treatment threshold and treatment timing).
